Assess, develop, and execute a 12-month internal communications roadmap in partnership with the Sr. Director, Marketing and Communications
Build and maintain an internal communications master calendar sequencing major cross-team and organizational communications
Engage cross-team communicators and channel owners to align and evolve use of email, newsletters, events, intranet, learning management, and other channels
Create and publish a regular, proactive digest of organizational news sourced from across departments, the executive team, and geographies
Partner with channel owners to co-develop enhancements and content strategies that improve staff experience and encourage broader staff contributions
Develop templates and tools to increase clarity and effectiveness of communications across the organization
Support goal-setting, creative theme, session design, and executive messaging for two major all-staff events (In Town Week and Staff Retreat) in collaboration with events and other departments
Define and report on quantitative and qualitative metrics to guide internal communications evolution
Develop 2–4 proactive internal communications per month from the CEO and other executive team members
Create messaging for proactive and reactive communications to staff regarding external issues and crisis situations
Consult with departmental leaders and comms staff to support messaging and campaigns for major organizational projects
Requirements
10 years+ experience in marketing and communications, with a significant portion focused on internal communications—preferably in philanthropy or nonprofit organizations with a global footprint
Past experience working as a contractor/consultant with demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships with in-house staff to achieve contract objectives
Experience developing and executing multi-channel, internal communication strategies that align with organizational goals and resonate with staff
Proven success fostering staff alignment and engagement during times of organizational growth through clear, thoughtful internal communication.
Experience supporting internal all-staff events and meetings, including strategic agenda building, session development, executive communications, and alignment with organizational narratives
Demonstrated expertise in executive communications, including writing in someone else’s voice (ghostwriting or speechwriting)
Exceptional writing and editing skills with a track record of producing clear, compelling, and accurate content on deadline.
Proficiency with internal communications platforms, tools, and analytics with preference for experience using Simplrr (intranet, email), Schoox (learning), Slack, Asana, Microsoft Office, Salesforce
Deep understanding of current best practices and trends in internal communications for global organizations
Strong project management skills for delivering projects through cross-functional team partnerships
Ability to work within a 3-hour time zone of the San Francisco Financial District
