About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Perform blood collection procedures and follow venipuncture procedures
Maintain appropriate log sheets
Verify order requests and identification information before drawing blood or collecting specimens/kits
Label collected specimens and deliver them to the appropriate processing area
Perform specimen processing and send-out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation, and packaging
Pick up and deliver blood, other sample types, and laboratory supplies
Help patients feel comfortable throughout blood collection using technical expertise, communication, and compassion
Work alongside the Medical Laboratory Team to support diagnosis, treatment, and quality patient care

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School Diploma or GED
Phlebotomy Technician experience
Technical proficiency with standard procedures, techniques, and common practices
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a team environment
Formal Phlebotomy Certification preferred
Graduate of an accredited phlebotomy program with a clinical rotation/externship preferred
Experience strongly preferred
Ability to work under minimal supervision
Ability to excel in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment
Frequent and long durations of standing and walking
Visual acuity, including ability to distinguish colors
Manual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood-drawing equipment and make measurements
Follow standard precautions and use personal protective equipment as required
Compliance with annual influenza prevention program, vaccination, or approved exemption
Successful completion of post-offer controlled-substance testing
