About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform echocardiograms, stress tests, stress echoes and Dobutamine stress echo
- Assist cardiologists with transesophageal echocardiograms
- Consult with cardiologists for interpretation of test results
- Maintain records of testing documentation
- Provide daily account of patient charge requisitions with appropriate ICD9 codes
- Train and act as a resource for echocardiogram students, residents and physicians
- Provide testing for add-on emergency patients
- Maintain complete and up-to-date documentation and files, including products and service quotes
- Float between Martin North, Martin South, Tradition Hospitals, St. Lucie West and Stuart Family Health Center
- Work days from 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, including rotating weekends, holidays and on-call requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate from a two-year Cardiovascular Technologist program
- Active Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) registry status from ARDMS or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) from CCI
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, physicians and other caregivers
- Ability to empathize with patients and families
- Preferred: five years of experience in echo and vascular ultrasound
- Good hand coordination for positioning of probe and equipment
- Good vision to analyze computer screens and VCR recordings to diagnose test results
- Good judgment in stressful emergency situations
- Adequate mathematics skills to maintain accurate records and reports
- Moderate lifting and positioning of patients
- Moderate pushing and pulling of equipment
- Ability to follow Standard Precautions and use required personal protective equipment
- Compliance with Cleveland Clinic's influenza prevention program, including annual vaccination or approved exemption
- Successful post-offer controlled-substance testing
- Moderate risk of exposure to blood or airborne pathogens
