About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate the classroom aspects of American Heart Association courses
- Ensure courses are held according to American Heart Association standards and guidelines
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Resuscitation Simulation Department
- Reserve and organize classrooms and equipment for scheduled classes
- Ensure instructors, equipment, classroom instruction, and student ratios meet required standards
- Apply adult learning techniques
- Adapt and develop training materials
- Prepare and adapt lesson plans based on American Heart Association curriculum and competency-based education principles
- Deliver interactive, participative instruction and elicit frequent responses
- Select and use audiovisual hardware and software to reinforce learning
- Evaluate and document trainee classroom and laboratory reactions and learning using approved formats
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree or equivalent licensure education
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP), or Doctor of Medicine (MD)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Four years of experience as a BLS, ACLS and/or PALS provider through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Ability to float to other Cleveland Clinic locations within the Florida region
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Two years of experience as an American Heart Association or American Red Cross instructor preferred
- Successful completion of BCLS, ACLS, or PALS through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within the new hire period
- High degree of dexterity using a PC
- Normal or corrected vision, hearing, and speech
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk extensively
- Occasional ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
- Must follow standard precautions and use required personal protective equipment
- Must comply with annual influenza vaccination program or obtain an approved exemption
- Offers of employment are followed by controlled-substance testing
- Must satisfy applicable Florida background-screening requirements
