About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients
  • Assist with medication management, patient monitoring, administrative tasks and more
  • Provide or assist with patient care in an outpatient clinic under supervision
  • Complete rooming process including vitals, height, weight, and intake questions
  • Collect patient specimens, perform point of care testing
  • Assist with exams, tests, and procedures like EKG and pulse oximetry
  • Document in the electronic health record
  • Assist with setting up the clinic for daily operations
  • Stock supplies and linens
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • A high school diploma or GED
  • One year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital or ambulatory, homecare, assisted living, nursing home or long-term care setting
  • Understanding of human anatomy, basic patient care activities and math
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the new hire period
  • Graduate from an approved medical assisting program OR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) for Medical Assistants
  • Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience for Medical Assistants
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross required during the new hire period
