Medical Assistant – Outpatient Clinical Care

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients
- Assist with medication management, patient monitoring, administrative tasks and more
- Provide or assist with patient care in an outpatient clinic under supervision
- Complete rooming process including vitals, height, weight, and intake questions
- Collect patient specimens, perform point of care testing
- Assist with exams, tests, and procedures like EKG and pulse oximetry
- Document in the electronic health record
- Assist with setting up the clinic for daily operations
- Stock supplies and linens
- Initiate CPR and other emergency measures
Requirements
What you’ll need- A high school diploma or GED
- One year of recent healthcare experience in a hospital or ambulatory, homecare, assisted living, nursing home or long-term care setting
- Understanding of human anatomy, basic patient care activities and math
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within the new hire period
- Graduate from an approved medical assisting program OR military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) for Medical Assistants
- Completion of a clinical externship OR extensive clinical experience for Medical Assistants
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or Red Cross required during the new hire period
