Virtual Patient Companion
Cleveland ClinicVirtual Patient Companion providing remote observation and support to healthcare staff at Cleveland Clinic Administrative Campus. Ensuring high-quality care for up to 15 patients simultaneously through a telemonitoring system.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Join the Cleveland Clinic team where you will work alongside passionate caregivers and provide patient-first healthcare.
- Use a telemonitoring system to provide continuous remote observation and surveillance of up to 15 patients in a variety of units, departments, and/or locations.
- Ensure all patients receive top-quality care, and nurses are supported.
- Monitor assigned patients, verbally redirecting patients from engaging in at-risk behaviors and summoning nursing staff as needed while honoring patients and institutional confidentiality.
- Work a day/night rotation from 6:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- Comply with established corporate and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance methods and safety codes.
- Demonstrate compliance with licensing, regulatory and accrediting agency provisions as required.
- Demonstrate appropriate and professional communication behavior toward patients, customers and coworkers.
- Cooperate with management and peers to promote an environment of teamwork and collaboration.
- Demonstrate an understanding of and proficiency in the use of the NAME TeleSitter Solution software.
- Maintain visual observation.
- Verbally redirect patients over a digital two-way audio device in patient rooms.
- Immediately summon the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
- Participate in the hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving to monitoring area and upon completion of shift assignment.
- Arrange meal break times and inform staff before leaving the monitoring station so relief may be provided to ensure constant patient observation.
- Provide patients with explanations as necessary without counseling or providing opinions.
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED
- General knowledge of hospital settings
- Can monitor up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and prioritize simultaneous situations
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset
- Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes
- Can use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff
- Basic computer operation skills
- Basic Microsoft windows experience.
- Previous experience in a hospital environment (Preferred)
- Previous clinical experience (Preferred)
- Previous direct patient care experience (Preferred)
- Nurse Assistant/Medical Assistant Certification (Preferred)
