About the role
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including arterial blood gas sampling and analysis
- Administration of aerosolized medications
- Non-invasive and invasive mechanical ventilation management
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Provide patient and family education on respiratory therapies, equipment use, and disease management
- Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes
- Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies, including codes, rapid responses, and trauma cases
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety
- Stay current with the latest evidence-based practices and participate in continuing education opportunities
- Work nights on a 7 on / 7 off schedule (7:00PM - 7:30AM), including rotating weekends and holidays
Requirements
- Associate's Degree and graduate of a CoARC accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentialing through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
- Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Preferred: Previous experience in adult critical care
- Preferred: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Preferred: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree
- Must clear controlled substances and nicotine testing within the 90-day new hire period
- Must comply with influenza prevention program (annual vaccination or approved exemption)
- Night shift availability: 7:00PM-7:30AM, 7 days on/7 days off, rotating weekend and holiday requirements
- Physical Requirements: Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range; may require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time; Medium Work (exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, etc.)
- Follow standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required
