About the role

  • Act as a coordinator to serve the needs of ambulatory clients identified as food insecure.
  • Connect clients with chronic disease who have limited access to food to the hospital’s designated Food Pantry.
  • Oversee inventory and ensure the Food Pantry meets accreditation requirements.
  • Provide nutrition education and follow up according to patients' goals.
  • Identify or create educational materials for the Pantry and collaborate with the CHN Education committee.
  • Ensure compliance with state practice acts and proper health information handling.
  • Work with healthcare professionals in discharge planning and oversee the pantry’s daily functions.
  • Represent the hospital in the community regarding food insecurity and chronic health conditions.
  • Participate in nutrition research studies and communicate findings through reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science or master's degree in dietetics, food and nutrition or related area, from an accredited college.
  • Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
  • Active certification as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
  • Current license in the State of employment as a Licensed Dietitian (LD).
  • Must complete Foodbank orientation and Fresh Track training session.
  • Current Serv Safe training or complete at start of position.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in customer relations with diverse patient/culture populations.
