About the role

  • Clearstory is a Change Order Communication and Workflow Platform for commercial construction, closing the gap between financial systems, field teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Role is an early Finance & Administration team member to build streamlined finance and administrative processes via outsourcing and system implementation.
  • Act as primary point of contact for employees on accounting and administrative issues, reporting to CEO/Founder and CFO.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations: billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll (via PEO), and equity/expense platforms (e.g., Carta, Expensify).
  • Own the monthly, quarter-end, and year-end close: coordinate, supervise, and review journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
  • Supervise and mentor onshore and offshore accounting staff and grow internal team.
  • Implement scalable accounting policies, controls, and procedures to support high-growth SaaS.
  • Coordinate with auditors, investors, and third parties for compliance and filings.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success to ensure accurate reporting of revenue, expenses, and operational metrics.
  • Provide insights to leadership on accounting trends, forecasts, and process improvements; assist with ad hoc analysis and special projects.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and tax matters such as sales tax.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years total experience; industry experience required, preferably high-growth SaaS or technology. Big 4 background is a plus.
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong attention to detail.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting operations.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with accounting/ERP systems (NetSuite is a plus).
  • Experience managing people with a track record for coaching and development.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with evolving processes; experience maintaining multiple administrative roles (Accounting, Payroll, HR, Benefits, Tax) preferred.
  • Hybrid work schedule: up to 1–2 days/week remote.
