About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead multiple engineering teams responsible for delivery, maintenance, and evolution of established software platforms
  • Drive modernization of legacy systems, including architecture, code quality, and development practices improvements
  • Take ownership of R&D oversight of new acquisitions
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, governance, and best practices across teams

  • Partner with Product Management and stakeholders to prioritize modernization, technical debt reduction, and operational stability initiatives
  • Oversee software testing strategies and quality practices for reliability, compliance, and performance
  • Maintain regulatory compliance and validated-system integrity across the software lifecycle
  • Identify and remove delivery bottlenecks to improve team velocity and cross-functional collaboration
  • Evaluate platform lifecycle decisions, including consolidation, refactoring, or retirement of legacy components
  • Plan resources, team structures, and capability development
  • Lead, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior engineers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering
  • 5+ years in engineering leadership roles
  • Proven expertise leading engineering teams supporting established or legacy software platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to modernize legacy systems while maintaining operational stability and compliance
  • Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare, life sciences, or clinical technology strongly preferred
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across Product, Quality, and Engineering
  • Ability to work effectively in a Remote/Hybrid environment in the US or Canada
  • The Department Head may hire personnel with a combination of experience and education that varies from the listed qualifications
