About the role
- Assist the accounting team to record complex transactions.
- Review complex account reconciliations prepared by the accounting team.
- Complete the monthly, quarterly, and annual adjusting and closing process.
- Adhere to the client’s organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives, and current accounting standards.
- Provide detailed review of the general ledger, financial statements and required work papers.
- Prepare work papers for the independent auditors, if applicable
- Analyze and interpret financial information and regularly present to the client’s leadership.
- Develop budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Review payroll and payroll tax compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Combination of related experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree.
- CPA certification is preferred but not required.
- 6 years relevant work experience as a Controller or equivalent is required.
- Accounting back-office experience is required.
- Relevant experience in the Construction industry is highly preferred!
- Public accounting experience preferred but not required.
- Aptitude for developing and maintaining a thorough working knowledge of accounting software and systems.
- QuickBooks experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with applicable software (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc).
