About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist taxpayers in resolving business or individual accounts delinquent in filing returns or paying tax liabilities
  • Help taxpayers correct tax delinquencies in a variety of ways
  • Answer taxpayer questions regarding Nebraska regulations, statutes, forms, refunds, and obtaining a DOR permit
  • Work as a Collection Agent from the Lincoln or Omaha office
  • Determine why a taxpayer is not in compliance
  • Utilize collection procedures and independent judgment
  • Communicate clear and concise ideas to taxpayers from varied backgrounds

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s Degree in business, or two years of experience with tax return preparation, business ownership and operation, account research and analysis, or interpretation and application of policies, laws, rules or regulations
  • Two years of customer service or comparable work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of collection processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of mathematics and accounting
  • Knowledge of business operations and practices
  • Knowledge of resources for researching tax laws, rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of Excel, Word, Oracle and Outlook
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Negotiation skills
  • Active listening and emotional intelligence
  • Reading comprehension
