About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • The work involves job orientation and training under close supervision for a period of one year to gain experience and develop ability.
  • Incumbents are trained in performing investigatory and supervisory responsibilities involving offenders, under direct supervision for an assigned district.
  • Training includes managing a caseload; preparing investigation reports; supervising offenders; conducting intake and detention interviews; testifying in courts; performing drug and alcohol testing; arresting or detaining probationers per statute; and managing and maintaining electronic monitoring equipment.
  • Regular travel is required to support operations across both the Fremont and Blair offices.
  • Core hours are Monday–Friday daytime with occasional on-call, evening, weekend, and holiday availability required.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, criminal justice or directly related field
  • Consideration will be given to candidates receiving their degree within 120 days of application.
  • Note: An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
  • Knowledge Requirements: Customer service principles.
  • Criminal Justice system, laws, legal codes, and court procedures.
  • Interview and Assessment procedures and practices.
  • Intervention policies and procedures.
  • Signs of various forms of abuse, mental health issues, or neglect.
  • Crisis intervention techniques.
  • Modern office procedures and equipment.
  • Record-keeping principles.
  • Document review techniques.
  • Computers and related software applications.
