About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and manage Water Resources Management and Source Water Protection strategies
- Execute the Hamilton Harbour Remedial Action Plan
- Ensure compliance with the Clean Water Act and regulations
- Establish departmental goals
- Interact with the public and Council for program support
- Build relationships with community partners and government agencies
- Plan and implement water resource management related work
- Evaluate and report on financial and staff performance
- Prepare annual budgets for the Section
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proven demonstrated knowledge and experience in the theories and practices of water/wastewater/stormwater service delivery and processes
- Previous management and leadership experience preferably in a municipal environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in water resource management and environmental governance
- Ability to work with management professionals across multiple disciplines
- Understanding of municipal infrastructure programming
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant guidelines, statutes, acts, regulations and by-laws
- Ability to engage staff in a progressive leadership style within a union environment
- Consulting skills including analysis, planning, implementation, and project management
- Proficiency in software applications used in business or financial analysis and report presentation (e.g., PeopleSoft, Excel, Word, Outlook)
