About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Reporting to a Program Manager, develops, implements and evaluates health promotion programs and policies in collaboration with Manager, staff, and community partners.
  • Develops and monitors an annual work plan in conjunction with Program Manager.
  • Collaborates with internal and external partners on the development, implementation and evaluation of integrated health promotion initiatives.
  • Provides expertise and consultation on specific health promotion subject area to staff from Public Health Services, other City departments, municipal government, community agencies, and human service professionals as needed.
  • Makes recommendations to Program Manager based on system data, evaluation results and other factors.
  • Prepares work plans, reports, and presentations for various committees.
  • Represents the Division/Program on relevant committees, agencies, and/or community boards.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in health promotion, community engagement, health communication, policy development, planning, implementation and evaluation normally acquired through the completion of a Master's Degree in Health Promotion, or related discipline; or a Baccalaureate Degree combined with relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in family health.
  • Demonstrated ability in identifying priorities for targeted health promotion initiatives by applying epidemiological, behavioural and socio-demographic data.
  • Demonstrated ability conducting evaluations and assessments.
  • Well-developed research, reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to express ideas effectively, verbally, and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team setting, and with community partners.
  • Community development or engagement experience is preferred.
  • Experience in computerized work environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and database software.
