About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and recommend work to improve protection, resiliency, and reliability
Independently manage maintenance and testing of IT Disaster Recovery Plans and coordinate objectives with business-unit continuity plans
Manage business continuity and disaster recovery strategies essential to bank operations
Coordinate recovery strategies covering backup procedures, data and file-system replication, archiving and caching, record retention, system restoration, and high-availability solutions
Establish scope and objectives for disaster recovery tests at offsite locations and coordinate timing and resources
Work with IT teams to align business continuity strategy with IT Disaster Recovery Plans and update plans for infrastructure and application changes
Act as a bridge between IT and business process owners
Conduct business impact analyses, risk assessments, gap analyses, and prepare executive summaries
Design, develop, and document business continuity plans for line-of-business partners
Coordinate annual business continuity and disaster recovery exercises, including crisis-management tabletop exercises and event-specific scenarios
Develop training and awareness schedules for business partners and staff
Coordinate annual business continuity documentation maintenance, updates, exercises, and independent review and validation
Prepare and present Board approval documentation and recovery capability status, gaps, and risks
Report business continuity status to executive management
Support management and business functions during business disruptions
Serve as lead coordinator and primary point of contact during crisis and disaster situations

Requirements

What you’ll need

5–7 years of progressive experience writing business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management plans; emergency management or crisis-handling experience preferred in banking or a highly regulated industry
5–7 years of experience leading projects affecting disparate departments and job functions
Experience creating and executing all phases of a Business Continuity Program for a financial services organization using third-party and cloud providers
Project management and crisis management skills
Significant experience creating a business continuity program and managing disaster recovery and business continuity planning
First-hand experience writing business impact analyses, risk assessments, gap analyses, business continuity, disaster recovery, and crisis management plans
Good working knowledge of information technology
Ability to perform Executive- and Board-level status briefings with minimal supervision
Extensive project management skills, especially with IT and security-related projects
Ability to coordinate efficiently with business partners and executive management
Strong analytical, organizational, administrative, and decision-making skills
Leadership and productive team-player capabilities
Strong understanding of data center operations and critical dependencies
Strong PC skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project
Strong knowledge of regulatory bodies and regulations governing banks, credit unions, and financial services organizations, including FDIC, FinCEN, Federal Reserve Board, and OCC
Strong project management and leadership aptitude
Ability to communicate security-related concepts to technical and non-technical staff
Travel and off-hour, on-call support required
CISSP, CBCP, PMP, ITIL, or CRISC certifications listed
Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
