About the role

  • Serve as regulatory engineering lead for major or specialized projects, process improvements, or Department initiatives.
  • Provide technical subject matter expertise for and on behalf of the ROWS Transportation Engineering Plan Review team.
  • Guide applicants and project stakeholders through complex issues with solutions that meet City agency standards.
  • Identify requirements and strategies for private land development and capital improvement projects in Denver.
  • Share technical expertise and be a teacher and mentor to help the Transportation Engineering Plan Review team continuously strengthen technical proficiency.
  • Lead the identification and development of best practices for City processes and team services.
  • Represent the City and team in all settings and communication modes with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Occasional after-hours work for community meetings, City Council Meetings, and field observations may be required.
  • Regularly report engineering team metrics, key performance indicators, regulatory quality metrics, and related data points to team supervisor and manager.

Requirements

  • Five-plus years of civil engineering experience in design, plans review or project management of large-scale and complex private development and/or capital improvement projects
  • Direct experience in transportation and traffic engineering
  • Exposure to capital project construction, Wastewater engineering, and municipal infrastructure management will also be helpful
  • A strong emphasis on collaboration, team building, and employee engagement
  • The ability to think creatively about efficiency and empowerment while effectively navigating the realities of a large, structured public organization
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Architecture
  • Three (3) years of experience at the type and level of a Senior Engineer or Senior Architect.
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application
  • Requires registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) by the Colorado State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers at the time of application or registration as an Architect by the Colorado State Board of Registration at the time of application.
