About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Editorial Services team and service client accounts
  • Partner with Medical & Scientific Services, Project Management, Account Services, and Creative Services teams
  • Provide quality assurance throughout project lifecycles
  • Proofread, copyedit, style, and format client deliverables including Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, creative layouts, and digital or multimedia content
  • Edit deliverables for medical affairs, commercial, payer and patient communications, and publications teams
  • Conduct pre- and post-Creative review for Creative assets
  • Proofread Creative poster layouts against templates and congress guidelines, annotate amendments, and incorporate text changes into layouts
  • Assist in developing and maintaining client style guidelines aligned with client, corporate, brand, agency, AMA, publication, and ethical standards
  • Identify areas requiring expertise from other team members and elicit input
  • Assist colleagues with editorial problem-solving, troubleshooting, and brainstorming
  • Coordinate editorial tools and processes, project intake, article ordering and tracking, bibliographies, reference libraries, congress calendars, and standards
  • Collaborate with senior-level editors on project briefs, requirements, due dates, budgets, scope, timelines, resourcing, progress, risks, and dependencies
  • Adopt, implement, and maintain new processes and technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of progressive professional medical or science editing experience
  • Strong familiarity with MS Office Suite, especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Acrobat
  • Strong familiarity with EndNote, GraphPad Prism, and medical literature databases such as PubMed
  • Experience in mock journal and congress submissions and collating submission requirements
  • Experience submitting abstracts to congresses and manuscripts to journals
  • Ability to prioritize projects, collaborate on team projects, and coordinate and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to acquire relevant information from published style manuals, journal guidelines, and literature searches and maintain accurate source records
  • Excellent knowledge of grammar, usage, and medical writing style guidelines such as the AMA Manual of Style
  • Familiarity with general scientific and medical concepts and ability to grasp complex scientific and medical applications
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to identify key issues and creatively and strategically overcome challenges
  • Ability to think analytically and effectively plan, prioritize, and execute assigned tasks
  • Expert verbal and written communication skills
