About the role

  • Work with Management on governance and the facilitation of the execution of the Manager Control Assessment (MCA, i.e..Risk & Control Self-Assessment) as required by the MCA Standard including the assessment and appropriate approval of risk associated with business changes.
  • Support control activities of the Managers Control Self-Assessment (MCA) program, also known as Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA).
  • Assist & oversee the MCA program, including the annual/semi-annual/quarterly/monthly attestation, quality oversight, and related reporting.
  • Ensuring Implementation of Model Risk controls for all active models for first and second line of Defense across Citi and support stakeholders in queries related to Implementation and Execution of these controls.
  • Identify, analyze, and assess potential risks, ensuring timely identification and remediation of significant control issues and operational events.
  • Support the execution of the MCA in accordance with the ORM Policy & Framework, as well as applicable Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Maintain a robust tracking and reporting MCA inventory including key metrics to provide visibility on the status of control gaps and MCA quality control processes.
  • Regularly monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and evaluate the effectiveness of risk and controls.
  • Recommend enhancements or improvements as necessary to the MCA.
  • Accountable for the quality, completeness, and accuracy of the implementation of the Control Framework, including Risk Control Policy, Control Standard, Issue Management Policy, Lesson Learned Policy and Control Inventory.
  • Drive MCA best practices, transformation, and execution consistency across business/functions.
  • Identification of issue root cause, partnering with control and process owners to recommend holistic corrective actions and improvements, provide check and challenge to ensure appropriate escalation in according with Issue Management and Escalation Policies.
  • Direct teams in the implementation of the Lessons Learned Policy, including monitoring of control breaches and dissemination and learnings across other business units for process improvement to limit the occurrence of similar future events and where similar risk exposure might exist.
  • Exercising control over Operational and Compliance Risk in accordance with established Policy requirements.
  • Assess Risk Appetite and monitor / assess exposures against this in accordance with enterprise requirements.
  • Take ownership to identify, assess, record and response to Operational and Compliance Risk events, ensuring these are captured accurately, timely and in accordance with requirements.
  • Support management on operational risk scenario analysis and stress testing for Operational Risk Capital requirements.
  • Be responsible of risk and control assessments or coordination for programs within various risk stripes and ensure sufficient subject matter expertise exists to enable management of these risks within the Business (e.g. third party, fraud, sanctions etc) (if applicable).
  • Take ownership to ensure that risk and control responsibilities and accountabilities are embedded within FLUs, including providing training and leading by example.
  • Apply knowledge of the business, products or services to identify and implement control points and processes throughout the business.
  • Review any Conflict of Interest (COI) cases with Citi Head of MRM and report any findings during monthly COI updates.
  • Input any new COI cases into ICRM global tool.
  • Maintain Business Impact Analysis and Business Recovery Plan in Fusion.
  • Update MRM COB plan as per new requirements cascaded from Global COB Team.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of teams and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in operational risk management, compliance, audit, or other control-related functions in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to identify, measure, and manage key risks and controls.
  • Strong knowledge in the development and execution for controls.
  • Strong understanding of Model Risk, relevant policies and guidance.
  • Proven experience in control related functions in the financial industry.
  • Proven experience in implementing sustainable solutions and improving processes.
  • Understanding of compliance laws, rules, regulations, and best practices.
  • Understanding of Citi’s Policies, Standards, and Procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills to evaluate complex risk and control activities and processes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage at the senior management level.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
