About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work across the full stack to build highly scalable distributed solutions enabling user experiences and business growth
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and operational excellence through tests, telemetry, and alerting
  • Own projects from conception through production release
  • Influence, facilitate, and collaborate across teams
  • Partner with EM/PM and collaborators to define team direction based on engineering and business priorities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field and 12+ years of related experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years, or PhD with 5+ years of related experience
  • 3+ years of professional coding experience with web backend technologies such as Ruby on Rails or similar
  • Experience with Go, Ruby, or Python
  • Experience safely rolling services out to customers using feature flags, A/B tests, or similar techniques
  • Demonstrated experience making architectural and system design choices
  • Ability to communicate architectural trade-offs and coach team members
  • Practical experience with emulation and simulation of networking devices
  • Project leadership experience defining project stepping stones and identifying progress metrics
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced agile engineering team
  • Ability and willingness to solve open-ended problems across all stack layers
  • Preferred: experience with networking devices
  • Preferred: experience with Cisco CML
  • Preferred: systems software design or large-scale distributed networking solutions experience
  • Preferred: experience working across cross-functional or geographically distributed engineering teams
