About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, scale, and maintain platforms and services supporting Cisco services, data platforms, and the Meraki Dashboard
- Build infrastructure and data pipelines to power data-driven decisions
- Design, build, ship, analyze, and maintain scalable distributed enterprise software solutions for telemetry data services
- Build and maintain backend components using C++ in a Linux environment
- Improve reliability, performance, scalability, testability, maintainability, observability, and developer experience
- Collaborate with Engineering groups and teams throughout Cisco to understand data requirements and customer requests
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience analyzing, scaling, troubleshooting, and debugging distributed systems
- Experience developing software using C++11 or newer standards
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or GitHub
- Experience deploying applications using containerization and Kubernetes
- Experience designing and querying relational databases using SQL, PostgreSQL, or MySQL
- Experience utilizing automated testing frameworks within the software development lifecycle
- Experience utilizing LLM-based coding assistants within the software development lifecycle
- Programming experience in Rust, Scala, or Python preferred
- Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, or Grafana preferred
- Experience with LaunchDarkly or similar feature flagging tools preferred
- Experience maintaining database software preferred
- Experience or willingness to work in an agile environment preferred
- Ability to comment on the difference between prompt engineering, context engineering, and agentic engineering preferred
- Must be a U.S. Person, as defined in the posting, due to potential work in FedRAMP High or IL-5 environments
- Certain work may require being a U.S. citizen on U.S. soil
