About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own relationships and influence strategic decisions within customers’ buying centers
  • Understand customer needs and position Cisco’s specialized architectures and solutions
  • Apply architectural expertise, competitor intelligence, and industry insight
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of business-case cost, benefit, and risk drivers
  • Provide architectural expertise across opportunities and maintain architecture-specific forecasting
  • Lead technical proof-of-concept and proof-of-value engagements with scaled demonstration environments
  • Develop comprehensive proposals aligned with solution gaps and customer objectives
  • Set direction and strategy with solution engineers, account teams, and customers
  • Provide customer feedback to development and engineering teams to influence product roadmaps
  • Advise customers on long-term, cross-architectural solutions and emerging technologies
  • Influence significant Cisco deals involving strategic partnerships and complex solutions
  • Shape account strategies and long-term business development plans using competitive data
  • Advise stakeholders on industry shifts, competitor risks, and evolving customer needs
  • Cultivate C-suite relationships and position Cisco as a strategic digital-transformation partner
  • Collaborate on high-level negotiations with key accounts
  • Prioritize customer success and develop enduring customer relationships
  • Align architecture strategy with go-to-market and revenue-expansion objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Aligned to a specific Cisco architecture and/or industry focus
  • Expert-level technical and product knowledge in a specialized area
  • Deep understanding of the relevant industry or vertical
  • Direct customer engagement with IT, lines of business, CXOs, and key decision makers
  • Ability to serve as a primary technical influencer during Qualify and Proposal phases
  • Ability to collaborate with internal business units and develop customer solutions
  • Experience with new product development or enhancements to existing functionality
  • Experience operating within 3–6 month sales cycles, extending to 12–18 months for complex opportunities
  • Experience supporting opportunities of approximately $50K to $750K; Service Provider opportunities exceeding $1M
  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of related experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years of related experience, or PhD with 5+ years of related experience
