Head of Claims, Alternative Markets Division

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- overall management of the claims department of 54 claims professionals
- responsible for performance, development and coaching of all claims staff
- provides vision, goals, and direction
- shares accountability for claims support staff
- provides input and actively participates in divisional meetings
- partners with underwriting teams for insights regarding claims trends
- offers support and counsel for new business opportunities
- provides tactical leadership and strategic direction
- monitors and analyzes data for quality of reserving, strategies, and outcomes
- ensures claims handling complies with applicable statutes and regulations
- responsible for nurturing claims culture and maintaining employee engagement
- provides advice on resolution of claims files
- submits recommendations to Corporate Claims on cases exceeding personal authority
- works closely with senior leadership team to meet budget and performance targets
- performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree is required
- 10+ years of leadership experience
- significant experience in management of casualty and property claims
- experience with strategic planning and employee development
- previous experience working with multi-line claims
- particular focus in Liability, Property and Workers Comp
- significant casualty expertise is required
- strong analytical and communication skills
- ability to clearly articulate vision and objectives
- must be able to travel up to 35% of the time
