In-House Counsel, Operations and Regulatory
CiscoAttorney providing legal counsel on regulatory and government affairs for Great American Insurance Group. Collaborating with business units in operations and legislation research.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide legal counsel to business units on operations, regulatory requirements, government affairs, and other legal matters
- Research, analyze and interpret insurance laws and regulations
- Collaborate with outside counsel and industry contacts on regulatory and government affairs issues
- Monitor, track and report on emerging legislation and regulations
- Research and write memoranda and other legal documents
- Draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements
- Collaboratively works with other members of the Legal team to achieve optimal results for our business clients
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least three years prior experience working for a law firm or in-house legal department
- A JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Ability to solve problems and to provide practical, risk-based advice
- Common sense, good judgment, and solution-oriented attitude toward legal issues
- Prior insurance experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Ability to travel as needed
