About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the primary technical authority for Optical networking
- Provide technical expertise and pre-sales support for Cisco's comprehensive portfolio
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Cisco’s I&MI Product Sales Specialists, Services, Engineering, and Account Managers
- Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, and proof-of-concepts to customers at all levels
- Design and architect end-to-end solutions for next-generation converged networks spanning Layer 0 to Layer 3
- Lead RFP/RFQ responses for optical and routing solutions in SP environments
- Create and present ROI-based business case modeling to drive value-based selling
- Act as a trusted technical advisor for strategic accounts
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of experience in Optical, Service Provider routing and Solution sales/engineering
- Proven experience as a Systems Engineer or Solutions Architect in the telecommunications/networking industry
- Experience engaging with key customers, understanding their unique needs, and applying industry best practices
- Deep knowledge of optical networking space with experience in DCI, Metro, Core, and Subsea DWDM solutions
- Hands-on optical design experience for Layer 0 and Layer 1 DWDM networks
- Strong Understanding of Telecom networks, IP Networking, L2/L3 VPNs, SDN, Segment routing/v6, Optical Networking, 4G/5G networks
- Understanding of Layer 3 technologies and management plane including MPLS, RSVP, SR, SDN, NMS
- Knowledge of IEEE standards for security and transport
