Great American's Crop Division is looking for a Business Analyst to join the IT team. This individual will work ideally work a hybrid schedule out of the Cincinnati, OH office. The specific title and compensation for this role will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience and demonstrated capabilities.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Requirements Gathering & Analysis Partner with business stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business requirements using industry-standard techniques Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria Perform gap analysis between current and future state processes Lead requirements strategy for complex, enterprise-wide initiatives (senior level)
Process Improvement Identify process inefficiencies and recommend optimization opportunities Support process redesign initiatives using data-driven insights Document current and future state process flows Lead enterprise process improvement across multiple business units (senior level)
Stakeholder Management Serve as liaison between business units, IT teams, and external vendors Facilitate requirements sessions and demos with stakeholders at various organizational levels Manage stakeholder expectations and communicate project impacts Interface with senior leadership and mentor team members (senior level)
Project Support Support project delivery by ensuring requirements align with business objectives Track requirements traceability throughout the project lifecycle Identify and escalate risks related to requirements and scope Serve as BA lead on large programs and coordinate across multiple project streams (senior level)
Documentation & Reporting Create and maintain comprehensive requirements documentation (BRDs, FRDs, user stories) Develop process flows, data models, and system interaction diagrams Develop business architecture artifacts and executive-level presentations (senior level)
Solution Evaluation Analyze proposed solutions for feasibility and business value Conduct cost-benefit analysis for recommended approaches Lead solution evaluation for multi-system integrations (senior level)
Testing & Validation Develop test scenarios and coordinate UAT activities Validate delivered solutions meet documented requirements Define UAT strategies for complex implementations (senior level)
Change Management Support organizational change initiatives through stakeholder engagement Assist in developing training materials and documentation Develop comprehensive change management strategies and training programs (senior level)
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, Agriculture, Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or related field
One of the following experience paths: Path A: 5+ years of business analysis experience including requirements elicitation, process modeling, and system implementation
Path B: 5+ years of agriculture/crop insurance industry experience with demonstrated analytical capabilities and process improvement involvement
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to learn new technical tools and methodologies quickly
Proficiency with BA tools (JIRA, Confluence, Visio, or similar) - training provided for industry experts
Basic SQL knowledge for data validation - preferred but not required
Understanding of system integrations and data flows
Preferred Qualifications 10+ years of progressive business analysis or relevant industry experience
Deep knowledge of crop insurance programs, agricultural risk management, or farming operations
Experience with USDA programs, RMA regulations, or crop insurance systems
Understanding of agricultural data systems, precision agriculture, or farm management software
Experience leading complex, enterprise-level initiatives
CBAP, PMI-PBA, or other relevant certifications
Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies
Data visualization tools experience (Tableau, Power BI)
Previous mentoring or team leadership experience
