About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Operate feed mill equipment, including grinders, mixers, and batching/pelleting systems
- Ensure product quality, safety requirements, and throughput targets in the assigned area
- Conduct continuous inspections and monitor equipment and key process parameters
- Record operating parameters and adjust machinery and equipment to meet specifications and production targets
- Implement regulations and requirements and complete necessary records
- Perform routine equipment maintenance, including greasing, inspections, and minor troubleshooting
- Report mechanical issues
- Maintain housekeeping, sanitation schedules, and the general appearance of the assigned work area
- Receive, handle, and move feed ingredients and load and unload trucks
- Prepare and manage loadout, including opening hatches, attaching hoses, sampling, and ensuring accurate product delivery
- Complete initial, ongoing, and supplemental training
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow safety policies, procedures, and regulations
- Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
- Work with co-workers to support plant operations, solve problems, and identify improvement opportunities
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned to support operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1+ years of experience in operations, production, manufacturing and/or agriculture environments
- Must meet minimum age requirement
- Ability to operate loaders, conveyors, tractors, and track mobile
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Agriculture experience preferred
- Forklift certification preferred
- Ability to work independently for extended periods and in confined or hazardous environments
- Ability to stand, walk, climb steps and ladders, and work at heights up to 120 ft
- Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to wear required protective equipment, potentially including respirators, hard hats, and eye and hearing protection
- Ability to use automated and manual tools and equipment
- Ability to shovel, sweep, load, unload, lift, and carry materials up to 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to work in noisy, dusty, and all weather conditions
- Selected candidates must pass applicable pre-employment screenings if required, which may include drug, criminal, motor vehicle, physical requirements, and FMCSA Clearinghouse checks
