About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Teach 3 courses in the School of Counseling each academic year. (40% of effort)
  • Executes strategic program leadership for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program under the Dean of the Global Campus and VP of Academic Affairs / Provost, with oversight spanning the student lifecycle from enrollment (i.e., group interviews) to graduation (including post-graduate licensure applications). (5% of effort)
  • Directs the student advising program, including training faculty advisors, scheduling and conducting group interviews, and leading ongoing student advisement efforts. (2% of effort)
  • Assists the Dean of the Global Campus with the leadership of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, course scheduling, and performance evaluation efforts of adjunct, part-time, and full-time faculty for the CMHC / SOC programs; monitors student-to-faculty ratios and makes faculty hiring recommendations as needed. (15% of effort)
  • Assists Dean of the Global Campus with the leadership of student retention efforts including student onboarding, orientation, ongoing advisement, and remediation. (4% of effort)
  • Provides overall leadership for clinical instruction and residencies for all cohorts including course design and revision, faculty guidance, and student management; attends or is virtually available for all CMHC Residencies; attends All-Faculty meetings and annual graduation ceremony. (5% of effort)
  • Monitors and provides leadership and guidance regarding current and future state licensure board compliance and regulatory review committee. (3% of effort)
  • Oversees and guides issues related to CMHC student behavior and professional disposition as needed. (2% of effort)
  • Partners with the Dean of the Global Campus to ensure program design, deployment, and standards are congruent with regional (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges) and SOC or the most recent program-level CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs) accreditation standards. (5% of effort)
  • Assists Dean of the Global Campus in preparing required accreditation reports, self-studies and applications. (2% of effort)
  • Convenes, sets the agenda, and chairs all faculty and CMHC program meetings, and promotes ongoing faculty development and remediation as needed; monitors faculty OLS participation and student engagement. (2% of effort)
  • Prepare annual budget proposal; other duties as assigned (15% of effort)

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Meet CACREP requirements for core faculty.
  • Doctoral degree in Counselor Education & Supervision from an accredited institution (related terminal degree grandfathered by CACREP per Standards will be considered).
  • 2 or more years of postgraduate clinical experience.
  • 3-5 years of teaching experience at the graduate level, preferably in counselor education.
  • Demonstrate ability in the effective teaching of clinical counseling skills.
  • Experience, background, and/or demonstrated knowledge serving on committees in an academic setting, facilitating meetings, and coordinating student retention and the student academic life cycle; administrative experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with state regulatory compliance as well as programmatic and institutional accreditation preferred.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • 2 or more years of clinical supervision or educational leadership experience (preferred).
  • Experience in curriculum and/or course design/enhancement (preferred).
  • Clear understanding of the role of the CCMMP in the SOC curriculum (preferred).
