About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide operational support for all steps of the weekly payroll cycle with a zero-defect objective
  • Serve as a point of contact and back up the Payroll Manager
  • Respond to and resolve employee payroll inquiries with timely follow-up
  • Input, review, and audit timekeeping and payroll-related records
  • Train employees, Supervisors, and Managers on timekeeping system use, auditing, and approval
  • Audit new hires, job changes, salary actions, terminations, and other payroll documents
  • Communicate audit results and ensure timely updates for missing time punches, time-off requests, and timeclock schedules
  • Process on-cycle, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls, including time file batches, retro activities, termination payments, adjustments, supplemental payments, and third-party interface files
  • Maintain payroll audit, workflow, and work procedure documentation
  • Assist with year-end processing, including auditing, reconciliation, and W-2 production
  • Process garnishments and lien documents in compliance with Federal and State Laws and ensure ADP deductions and payments
  • Support day-to-day payroll administration
  • Collaborate with Payroll Specialists to cross-check work, share workload, and support the zero-defect payroll goal
  • Maintain electronic payroll documents for record retention, audits, and SOX compliance
  • Maintain internal communications related to Kronos, ADP, and SuccessFactors payroll information, training, forms, and notifications
  • Perform other duties as necessary

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma required with 5 years’ experience in a payroll administration role, or Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field with 2 years’ minimum experience
  • Working knowledge of payroll processes, including data entry, pay calculations, garnishments, tax set-up, benefits, multi-state taxation rules, and wage & hour laws
  • 2 years’ experience with ADP and Kronos
  • Intermediate Excel skills
  • Experience using AI tools to support payroll or administrative work is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and track missing and/or required payroll components
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information reviewed and processed
  • Ability to interact daily with employees, managers, and leadership via email, phone, or Teams
  • Ability to understand, calculate, and explain complicated calculations and figures
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, with payroll submit days having no set end time until payroll is submitted
