About the role
- Support the importance of accurate, complete and consistent coding practices for quality healthcare data
- Proficient in coding the most complex types of coding cases (Inpatient)
- Apply the correct ICD-9/ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes
- Apply the newly developed and mandated ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient procedure cases
- Strive for optimal reimbursement
- Float to different coding areas as needed
Requirements
- Inpatient Coding (facility) in an Acute Care Hospital preferred
- 2+ years medical record coding experience and knowledge of DRG assignment and reimbursement regulations as acquired in an acute care environment preferred
- Requires experience coding through an encoder
- Proficient with Windows based applications required
- Coding for pediatric cases preferred
- One of the following certifications: CCS-Certified Coding Specialist, RHIT-Registered Health Information Technician, RHIA-Registered Health Information Administrator
