About the role

  • Support the importance of accurate, complete and consistent coding practices for quality healthcare data
  • Proficient in coding the most complex types of coding cases (Inpatient)
  • Apply the correct ICD-9/ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes
  • Apply the newly developed and mandated ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient procedure cases
  • Strive for optimal reimbursement
  • Float to different coding areas as needed

Requirements

  • Inpatient Coding (facility) in an Acute Care Hospital preferred
  • 2+ years medical record coding experience and knowledge of DRG assignment and reimbursement regulations as acquired in an acute care environment preferred
  • Requires experience coding through an encoder
  • Proficient with Windows based applications required
  • Coding for pediatric cases preferred
  • One of the following certifications: CCS-Certified Coding Specialist, RHIT-Registered Health Information Technician, RHIA-Registered Health Information Administrator
