About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide accurate and timely assignment of appropriate ICD-10 diagnostic and PCS procedural codes on medical records for inpatient encounters
  • Review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10 PCS procedure codes
  • Abstract diagnostic and PCS procedural codes into the network system as per policy and procedures
  • Monitor assigned work queues and manage documentation encounters as needed
  • Provide information on problem accounts to the Coding Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3 years of experience in a hospital inpatient setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, coding guidelines, and computers
  • Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification is required
