About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide accurate and timely assignment of appropriate ICD-10 diagnostic and PCS procedural codes on medical records for inpatient encounters
- Review medical records and assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and ICD-10 PCS procedure codes
- Abstract diagnostic and PCS procedural codes into the network system as per policy and procedures
- Monitor assigned work queues and manage documentation encounters as needed
- Provide information on problem accounts to the Coding Supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3 years of experience in a hospital inpatient setting
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, coding guidelines, and computers
- Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) certification is required
