About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supports all disciplines within department to provide indirect and direct patient care activities
  • Proactively supports efforts that result in delivery of safe patient care and services and promote a safe environment at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
  • Can perform assigned tasks under the delegation of a physician, advanced practice registered nurse, or physician assistant
  • Completes assigned tasks/orders from provider
  • Demonstrates competency during intake process, inclusive of accurate vital signs
  • Serves as liaison between patients/families and department staff by greeting patients/families, informing families of delays, relaying messages, and offering assistance/other services families may require
  • Understanding and compliance with infection control, safety, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration procedures and regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1 year of experience in the role of medical assistant, patient care tech or equivalent or have completed Medical Assistant Externship at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta
  • 1 year experience in pediatrics, including obtaining vitals, assisting clinical staff with patient care, phlebotomy, and specimen collection procedures
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a medical assistant training program from an accredited school or emergency medical technician or hospital or physician office-based training as a patient care technician or equivalent
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of employment
