About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own and sign off the month-end close process and drive continuous improvement
  • Manage and support the Accountant and Finance Assistant
  • Prepare month-end financials, balance sheet reconciliations, and manage the general ledger
  • Review and approve journals and postings before month-end lock
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, depreciation postings, and capitalisation decisions
  • Oversee inventory management and chargepoint and installation reconciliations
  • Oversee finance management of payroll, pensions, employee benefits, and LEVI grant funding reporting
  • Lead preparation of annual statutory accounts
  • Manage the external audit end-to-end and resolve audit queries
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and support investor and shareholder reporting
  • Oversee bank account management, mandates, and reconciliations
  • Develop and monitor internal controls
  • Own the purchase-to-pay process, expenditure approvals, employee expenses, and corporate card processes
  • Oversee the revenue ledger, billing accuracy, accounts receivable, and revenue-share calculations and settlements
  • Prepare VAT returns and manage CIS and HMRC reporting
  • Coordinate corporation tax and R&D tax relief filings with external advisers
  • Administer and optimise finance systems and improve reporting
  • Maintain finance procedures and documentation
  • Provide financial analysis, support finance projects, and highlight margin risks and opportunities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
  • Proven experience as a line manager
  • Strong audit management experience, coordinating and owning the external audit process
  • Strong technical knowledge across financial reporting, tax compliance, and internal controls
  • Experience of finance system improvement, development, or implementation
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced, scale-up or high-growth environment
  • Analytical, continuous improvement mindset
  • Experience in infrastructure, EV, energy, or another capital-intensive sector (desirable)
  • Experience in a PE or VC-backed business (desirable)
  • Investor reporting experience (desirable)
  • Valid right to work in the UK
  • Must be able to work without employer sponsorship
