About the role
- Conducts respiratory evaluation of patients as requested by clinical staff.
- Determines the need for utilization of respiratory equipment and supplies including BIPAP, CPAP, liquid oxygen, oxygen concentrators, nebulizers, oral and intermittent suction, continuous pulse oximetry and ventilators.
- Makes recommendations for respiratory treatments and care based on patient assessment to clinical and medical staff.
- Provides routine follow-up and monitoring.
- Evaluates treatment effectiveness, patient compliance and safety issues, and recommend changes.
- Provides education on respiratory therapy to clinical staff, medical staff and patient/caregiver education regarding respiratory equipment use and maintenance, respiratory medications and treatments, energy conservation, home safety and oxygen safety.
- Prepares and maintains required documentation for each assigned patient. Completes documentation in a timely manner and distributes to the appropriate parties.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current Florida Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license
- Minimum of two (2) years of respiratory therapy experience
- Ability to work as needed and participate in on call schedule
- Ability to work unsupervised in the field, exercising some discretion and independent judgment
- Well-developed interpersonal skills: ability to problem solve with staff, while maintaining excellent working relationships
- Able to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal)
- Mobile Driver - Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance per Company policy
- Ability to physically access any home (i.e., navigate stairs and narrow spaces, tolerate heat and lack of air conditioning) in any area the Company serves
- Ability to perform the essential functions and physical requirements (including, but not limited to: lifting patients and/or equipment, bending, pushing/pulling, kneeling, lift 50 pounds) of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
