About the role
- Responsible for the coordination and planning of therapeutic and recreational activities for the participants of the program.
- Conduct an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants.
- Develop specific therapeutic programs to include recreational and social activities.
- Record, sign and date progress reports in the participant’s medical record.
- Develop, implement and supervise the Activity Program.
- Plan and provide both group and individual activities.
- Participate in Interdisciplinary Conferences, daily meetings and family conferences.
- Serve as a resource to staff and coordinate volunteer activities at the center.
- Document in participant medical record, including Plan of Care.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field, or combination of experience and education required.
- Minimum two years’ experience in a social or recreational program providing and coordinating services to a frail or elderly population within the past 5 years.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreational Specialist (CTRS) or Activity Director Certification required.
- Current CPR and First Aid certifications required.
- Valid Florida Drivers’ License with good record
- Active BLS for healthcare professionals from the American Heart Association or Red Cross; Current employees must obtain by January 1, 2025.
- Certification of completion of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias Training through the Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
