Key responsibilities & impact

Assists in the procurement, storage, preparation and distribution of medications, all under the direct supervision of a registered Pharmacist.
Responsible for patient billing, inventory control, and other non-discretionary tasks relating to the maintenance of the Pharmacy.
Selecting the correct drug product from the inventory to fill patient orders and stock orders.
Preparation and compounding of sterile parental pharmaceuticals and chemo therapeutic agents under the supervision of a pharmacist.
Fill floor stock requests in an accurate and timely manner.
Is familiar with all aspects of the computer system, including order entry and billing entry.
Knowledge of the special age related needs of patients in the Medical Center.

Requirements

What you’ll need

High school graduate
Completion of course work leading to certification as a Pharmacy Technician
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Must be able to work in a union environment
No experience required, but is desirable to have a minimum of one year's experience in pharmacy preparations for large volume parenterals and intravenous antibiotics, chemo-therapeutic agents, or certification from an accredited school offering a Pharmacy Technician training program.
Valid California Pharmacy Technician Certificate
Valid Los Angeles County Fire Card (required within 30 days of employment)
Assault Response Competency (ARC) (required within 30 days of employment).
