About the role

  • Proactively work with CHA Property Office to identify actual or potential compliance issues at existing CHA properties.
  • Stay updated on changes in regulations and guidelines affecting affordable housing and ensure that policies reflect those changes.
  • Conduct internal inspections and audits of affordable housing properties to assess compliance with safety, quality, and program standards.
  • Maintain thorough and organized records of compliance activities, audits, inspections, and any issues or corrective actions taken.
  • Serve as a resource for staff questions related to affordable housing regulations, tenant eligibility, income verification, and other compliance matters.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of compliance procedures and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Assist with compliance-related performance reviews and assessments of housing programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Real Estate, or a related field preferred
  • Certification in affordable housing compliance (e.g., Housing Credit Certified Professional (HCCP), Public Housing Manager (PHM), or equivalent) is a plus
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in affordable housing compliance, public housing, with a strong understanding of federal, state, and local affordable housing programs
  • Experience with HUD programs (e.g., Section 8, LIHTC) and tax credit compliance preferred
  • Strong knowledge of affordable housing regulations, policies, and industry standards
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and housing management software (e.g., Yardi)
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in identifying and solving problems.
