About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide professional nursing care for office patients under the direction of the office physician or office Registered Nurse
- Promote wellness and quality patient care as a member of the medical office healthcare team
- Gather patient data through physical assessment and document findings in the chart or EMR
- Report assessment-based problems to the physician
- Suggest nursing actions to prevent, reduce, or eliminate health problems
- Perform basic nursing care under physician or registered nurse direction
- Share observations regarding patient progress toward established goals
- Instruct patients and families on medication and treatment directions
- Chart on behalf of the provider when in the exam room, including name, title, date, and time, and obtain provider sign-off
- Assign ICD-10 codes on charge sheets or in the EMR for billing
- Monitor CPT coding to ensure proper physician documentation
- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Illinois Practical Nursing Licensure required
- BLS required within 30 days of hire and must be maintained throughout employment at CGH
- Previous Medical Office experience preferred
- Thorough knowledge of medical equipment and instruments strongly preferred
- Prior knowledge in drawing blood preferred
- Basic computer knowledge preferred
- Ability to document patient needs and assessments
- Knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to age-related patient needs
- Knowledge of growth and development principles appropriate to the served patient population
- Ability to assess and interpret patient-status data and identify care needs for pediatric, adolescent, and/or geriatric patients
- Scheduled weekly hours: 36
- Day shift with various hours
