About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Establish a lean but effective First Line of Defence (FLOD) capability for Underwriting
- Provide Underwriting Leadership with oversight and assurance to manage risk across the taxonomy
- Embed and own the Underwriting Risk and Control Matrix
- Ensure risks are understood, ownership is clear, inherent risk is quantified, risk appetite is defined, and controls operate effectively
- Establish governance giving Underwriting leadership an aggregated view of accountable risks and control effectiveness
- Use Key Risk Indicators, including audit points, to support timely management interventions
- Build an assurance framework to monitor the Risk and Control Matrix and identify corrective actions
- Establish an effective FLOD operating model, centralizing control operation where beneficial and coordinating specialist-function oversight where appropriate
- Evidence an effective Underwriting FLOD
