About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver high-quality and timely regulatory and compliance advice to the business in a practical and commercially focused way in relation to financial prevention and all relevant matters that reduce risk and resolve issues.
- Lead the analysis of complex sanctions cases across UK, EU, US, Canadian and Australian regimes.
- Oversee any suspected financial crime-related regulatory and policy breach or incident investigations, escalating findings and recommendations to the UK Head of Compliance.
- Support the Money Laundering Reporting officer (MLRO) in the performance of their full range of duties, including undertaking a preliminary screening and analysis of Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) submitted by employees, advising the MLRO on whether disclosures should be passed on to external authorities.
- Lead on the Compliance review of broker additional commission arrangements.
- Perform horizon scanning for any relevant financial crime matters and communicate key changes at the Regulatory Horizon Scanning meeting.
- Manage personal workload proactively to support both the UK Compliance Team and International Compliance colleagues as required.
- Review and approve all escalations of screening alerts from the Compliance Operations team.
- Perform financial crime related monitoring activity.
- Responsible for maintaining financial crime-related framework, policies, procedures and guidance documents.
- Prepare external financial crime and sanctions-related reports (such as licence applications, SARs, and Frozen Assets Report).
- Support with the management of any financial crime projects for the Group.
- Prepare financial crime related content/reports for Risk Committee, Boards and other meetings as required.
- Responsible for developing and enhancing existing financial crime-related MI, KPIs and KRIs.
- Support the development of junior members of the team.
Requirements
What you’ll need- A highly experienced second line compliance professional with strong expertise in financial crime systems and controls within the Lloyd’s, Coverholder or UK company market insurance environment.
- Skilled at analysing, interpreting and communicating complex regulatory matters to varied audiences, with excellent written and verbal communication, report writing and attention to detail.
- Builds strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and has a solid understanding of international financial crime laws and regulations, sanctions, delegated authority arrangements, and the design and implementation of effective financial crime controls.
