About the role

  • Ensure quality and accuracy of BI reports and dashboards for an enterprise HCM data platform.
  • Validate visualizations, test report functionality, verify data accuracy against source, and ensure proper security controls are working as expected.
  • Design and execute test cases for BI reports and dashboards.
  • Validate report data accuracy by comparing with gold layer source data.
  • Test visualizations for correctness, formatting, and user experience.
  • Verify Row-Level Security (RLS) implementation across different user personas.
  • Test report filters, parameters, drill-down, and interactive features.
  • Validate calculated fields and LOD expressions against business requirements.
  • Perform cross-browser and cross-device testing for embedded reports.
  • Test report performance and load times.
  • Validate scheduled extract refresh and data update scenarios.
  • Test embedded analytics integration in client applications.
  • Document test cases, test results, and defect reports.
  • Collaborate with BI developers to identify root causes and verify fixes.
  • Support UAT by preparing test scenarios and validating user workflows.
  • Perform regression testing when reports are modified.

Requirements

  • SQL: Good SQL skills for data validation and comparison queries
  • BI Testing: 2+ years of experience testing reports and dashboards
  • Tableau: Hands-on experience navigating and testing Tableau dashboards
  • Data Validation: Experience comparing report data with database source
  • Test Documentation: Experience creating test plans, test cases, and defect reports
  • Defect Tracking: Experience with JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
  • Attention to Detail: Strong eye for visual inconsistencies and data discrepancies
  • Understanding of BI Concepts: Familiarity with filters, parameters, drill-down, RLS
  • Test automation frameworks for data validation (Python, Great Expectations, dbt tests)
  • Snowflake: Experience querying Snowflake for data validation
  • Tableau Server/Cloud: Experience with publishing, permissions, and user filters
  • RLS Testing: Experience testing Row-Level Security scenarios
  • Embedded Analytics: Experience testing embedded Tableau reports in web applications
  • Performance Testing: Experience validating dashboard load times
  • LOD Expressions: Basic understanding to validate calculation logic
  • Agile/Scrum: Experience working in Agile teams
  • Tableau certification
