About the role
- Central automates back-office work for startups using AI agents and human experts (payroll, benefits, compliance, accounting, taxes)
- Scale the team: grow engineering org to 20+ people; recruit, develop, retain exceptional engineers and leaders
- Establish engineering culture: define and model values, rituals, and practices across a fully remote team
- Drive execution at scale: ensure fast, reliable delivery and create processes for speed, clarity, accountability
- Develop leaders: mentor engineers into tech leads and managers; build a leadership bench
- Partner cross-functionally: align engineering with founders, product, design, operations for customer impact
- Design the org for growth: define roles, career paths, and structures to maintain velocity and quality
