About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Monitor and respond to network alerts using network monitoring tools.
Assist with troubleshooting network connectivity issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless environments.
Provide first and second-level support for network-related incidents and service requests.
Support the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software (e.g., switches, firewalls, routers, and wireless access points).
Assist with network documentation, including diagrams, change records, and asset registers.
Participate in network upgrades, patching, and configuration changes under supervision.
Perform basic firewall and VPN configurations under the direction of senior engineers.
Collaborate with other technical teams to resolve cross-functional issues.
Maintain awareness of current networking technologies and best practices.
Ensure compliance with security policies, processes, and standards.
Contribute to knowledge base documentation and team learning resources.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Exposure to vendors such as Fortinet, Cisco, Ubiquiti, or Aruba.
Understanding of firewall configurations and VPN concepts.
Experience with monitoring tools.
Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell or Bash).
ITIL awareness or certification.
Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Networking, or equivalent experience.
Basic knowledge of networking concepts such as IP addressing, routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless technologies.
Exposure to or understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs).
Experience with Microsoft Windows networking environments.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
