About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN and according to the Aide Plan of Care.
  • Assist patients with self-administered medications within the specified scope of duties.
  • Measure temperature, pulse, and blood pressure and report abnormal results.
  • Assist with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, skin care, oral care, and nail/foot care.
  • Assist with feeding, nutrition communication, and recording food and fluid intake.
  • Position patients for meals and support self-feeding.
  • Assist with toileting, bed pans, urinals, catheter bags, and ostomy-related procedures.
  • Safely assist with mobility, exercises, positioning, transfers, and ambulation.
  • Report changes and document pertinent patient information and care rendered.
  • Document interactions with patients, caregivers, doctors, and staff accurately and thoroughly.
  • Practice infection control principles.
  • Provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
  • Perform light household tasks such as laundry, bed making, meal preparation, housekeeping, and shopping when authorized and needed.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Complete a Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Home Health Aide program within the last 24 months.
  • Meet applicable state certification requirements.
  • Valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation required.
  • Be in good standing on the HHA Registry, if applicable.
  • Complete an HHA/CNA course to work for a Medicare-certified agency.
  • Minimum one year of experience in the last 24 months as a Home Health Aide or Certified Nursing Assistant in a hospital, nursing home, home health/hospice agency.
  • Required to complete TB screening if selected.
  • Maintain personal vehicle liability insurance in accordance with state minimum limits or the specified higher limits.
