About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise all CLA manned and unmanned Tankerman activities during transfer operations
- Provide continuous on-the-job training at the direction of the Director of USEC Operations and Barge Operations Supervisor
- Conduct transfer inspections and audits of CLA barge operations and Tankermen
- Conduct initial tankerman skills reviews and yearly performance evaluations
- Lead the hiring process for potential new tankerman
- Directly supervise complicated or sensitive transfer operations
- Work closely with CLA team members to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations
- Participate in developing new programs, policies, and procedures
- Submit weekly operational reports to the Barge Operations Supervisor
- Cover extra barge work as directed
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of USEC Operations
- Take communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning schedule and condition changes
Requirements
What you’ll need- At least three (3) years of tank barge experience
- A valid USCG Issued MMC with a Tankerman PIC dangerous liquids
- Good working knowledge of all State and Federal regulatory compliance regarding the transfer and carriage of petroleum products over water
- Ability to provide leadership and direction to Tankerman
- High degree of management communications, oral and written
- Ability to maintain direction and composure under extreme conditions and meet established goals and objectives
- Self-motivated and able to motivate others
- Ability to train assigned workers
- Ability to fairly evaluate subordinates
- Ability to understand and use information in cargo information cards and material safety data sheets
- Proficient using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
- Valid state drivers’ license
- Valid TWIC
- Must be able to communicate in English and effectively direct workers in assigning jobs and seeing them through to completion
- Must be physically fit to climb onto barges and up and down ladders, and bend and twist during boat/barge tie-up
- Must not be afraid of heights
- Able to work weekends, holidays, and at night; willing to take call-outs
- Ability to adapt to a variety of schedules and hours
- Pre-employment drug testing is required
