About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Communicate with patients and providers by telephone to schedule specialty appointments accurately, promptly, and courteously
  • Obtain and enter accurate demographic, guarantor, legal guardian, and insurance information for encounters
  • Discuss financial obligations with patient families and collect payments or escalate to Financial Advocates when appropriate
  • Monitor registration and insurance-related patient work queues to support timely claim filing
  • Collaborate with Nemours departments to meet patient access needs
  • Answer calls for assigned clinic specialties using standardized greetings, content, and call closure
  • Schedule appointments in the EMR system according to scheduling and insurance guidelines
  • Provide appointment information, directions, and required paperwork by mail or email
  • Review electronic communications and process documentation and notify leadership of questions
  • Answer customer questions, document and escalate health concerns according to guidelines
  • Collect copays, outstanding balances, and applicable prepayments
  • Identify and attempt to resolve complaints, escalating unresolved complaints appropriately
  • Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma required
  • More than one (1) year of customer service, medical office, or call center experience required
  • NAHAM certificate (National Association of Healthcare Access Management) - CHAA preferred
  • Experience using EMR systems for registration and appointment scheduling
  • Ability to accurately verify demographic, guarantor, legal guardian, and insurance information
  • Ability to discuss financial obligations and collect copays, outstanding balances, and prepayments
  • Ability to provide professional customer service and follow escalation guidelines
