About the role
- Assist with daily communications tasks and lead the development and implementation of our digital strategy, including social media, graphics, videos, and other digital media.
- Help to develop and maintain CCJ’s brand through digital/visual media.
- Develop digital strategies related to all ongoing campaigns and issue areas.
- Manage our social media platforms, including a content calendar and development of toolkits.
- Create interactive content and engage with people on social media.
- Create paid advertisements on social media and Google to drive views and clicks.
- Track and analyze activity on social media in order to optimize interactions and visibility.
- Help maintain and manage online activist toolsets and data systems using EveryAction.
- Assist with tracking engagements and maintaining CRM database.
- Help draft and edit targeted emails, phonebanking scripts, and peer-to-peer text messages to mobilize supporters.
- Design and drive strategy for outreach materials and update them as needed to inform and persuade key audiences and promote CCJ’s visual brand.
- Make graphics, pictures, and videos.
- Develop tabling materials, with support from team members.
- Gather pictures and videos, and organize in Google Drive.
- Draft and publish monthly member newsletter.
- Track and analyze engagement on emails to inform our messaging and frequency.
- Help produce concise and effective press materials, including releases, advisories, Op-Eds, and letters to the editor with the opportunity to pitch stories to reporters, editors, bloggers, and other newsmakers.
- Monitor media, summarize coverage relevant to CCJ, and identify opportunities that align with CCJ’s goals.
- Represent CCJ in allied Comms spaces.
- Provide support to other staff and volunteers as needed.
Requirements
- 2-4 years or more experience in communications, marketing, graphic design or related work
- A commitment to CCJ’s mission
- Self-motivated, independent worker
- Works well in fast paced team environment and respects deadlines
- Strong listening skills
- Ability to work effectively and creatively with diverse people and organizations
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekend and occasionally long hours
- Knowledgeable about energy extraction, fossil fuel use, environmental justice and/or just economic transition in rural communities
- Proficiency with the following are a plus: Google Workspace tools (Drive, Docs, Sheets, GMail, etc)
- Social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
- Web platforms (Wordpress)
- Design platforms (Canva or Adobe Express)
