About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead full-cycle monthly accounting processes including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor liquidity to ensure adequate available funds
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, internal policies, and donor regulations across HQ and field offices
  • Manage timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Oversee external audit, tax filings, and relevant international submissions
  • Serve as primary contact for auditors, financial institutions, and vendors
  • Provide analysis and meaningful insights into operating performance
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Budgeting & Analysis to produce the organization-wide annual budget and develop rolling forecasts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of 10 years of nonprofit full-cycle accounting experience with at least five years in a management or senior leadership role overseeing accounting, budgeting, and/or financial analysis
  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business preferred.
  • CPA or equivalent accounting qualification required
  • Knowledge of working with international NGOs (INGO)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting, and nonprofit audit practices
  • Valid authorization to work in Switzerland at the time of this application without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Must be able to keep CIVIC matters strictly confidential.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and accounting software skills
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct is preferred.
