About the role
- Define the product strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle for IoT hardware devices and accessories from concept through launch and post-launch improvements
- Conduct customer and market discovery to understand real-world workflows, constraints, and pain points that inform product decisions
- Identify customer and operational problems and translate them into product requirements and success criteria that reflect performance, environmental, and certification expectations
- Prioritize product investments based on customer value, business impact, technical feasibility, and timeline
- Partner with engineering on product decisions that balance cost, reliability, performance, size, battery life, certification, and deployment experience
- Work with engineering, manufacturing, and operations through prototype, testing, and production phases to confirm the product meets success criteria for launch
- Collaborate with supply chain, manufacturing, and operations to support development, certification, and production while maintaining alignment with requirements and launch goals
- Surface risks and constraints early and drive clarity on decisions and tradeoffs that support successful delivery
- Ensure positioning, documentation, and training materials are ready for launch and remain accurate throughout the product lifecycle
- Monitor product performance after launch and convert learnings into roadmap improvements
Requirements
- 5+ years of product management experience in hardware, connected devices, wearables, IoT, or similar physical products
- Strong understanding of hardware development, testing, certification, and manufacturing processes
- Experience writing product requirements and hardware specifications based on customer and operational needs
- Proven ability to make product decisions and balance technical tradeoffs in partnership with hardware and firmware engineering
- Demonstrated experience collaborating with operations, supply chain partners, and engineering to bring hardware from prototype to production
- Experience partnering with ODM or OEM manufacturers during prototyping, testing, certification, and ramp to mass production
- Ability to analyze customer needs, operational data, and product performance to inform roadmap decisions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive clarity, decisions, and alignment across cross-functional teams
