About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Promote a culture of safety and ensure work complies with company, OSHA, and MSHA standards
- Ensure team members have the skills to perform their roles safely and effectively
- Participate in safety committees, training programs, and risk assessments
- Oversee compliance with environmental regulations across plant operations
- Collaborate with Quality Control and other departments to troubleshoot and maintain product quality
- Monitor and manage plant equipment and oversee production performance
- Ensure equipment startup and shutdown procedures are followed
- Assign work schedules and authorize overtime
- Ensure adequate staffing
- Initiate and follow up on maintenance work orders
- Ensure equipment operates reliably and efficiently
- Complete daily production reports and track issues
- Report unsafe areas or practices
- Manage cement shipments and communicate quarry operations to relevant teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent education/experience
- MSHA certification or ability to obtain it within a reasonable timeframe
- 3 to 5 years of experience in operations or a related industrial role
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Cement process experience is a plus
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent troubleshooting and decision-making abilities
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage priorities
- Effective teamwork, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate heavy equipment and physically perform essential job functions
- Ability to pass a physical exam, including back x-ray, vision test, hearing test, functional capability evaluation, respiratory fit test, and drug/alcohol screen
- Ability to work varying shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus
- Must wear protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally and 20 lbs. frequently
- Must be able to walk, stand, push, pull, and climb frequently
- Must be able to communicate by phone and radio, hear verbal commands and audible alarms, and work safely around large mobile equipment and automatic conveyor belt systems
